Review: TV-Music in Concert

I attended the concert “From Television To Cinema” performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus at the KKL Luzern on Tuesday, May 8th 2012.

During an aperitif, organised by the Swiss-British Chamber of commerce, before the concert I had the chance to meet the Australian violinist Alexandra Portmann and the composer George Fenton who I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to. They are down-to-earth persons who briefly explained the scene behind film music, i.e. that the film music is the last component of the film making process, the related budget issues and how artists have to fight for their intellectual property rights.

The concert was divided in two sections: during the first part the music of TV and movie productions was played, whereas during the second part I was emotionally involved with the “Deep Blue In Concert”. The beauty and the ferocity of nature vibrated trough my body, letting me think how many similarities are with the human basics instincts. Even though we have learnt to control them, maybe supposing that they are vanished, is just sufficient to listen to the perfect performance of a master piece to notice that they are just on standby.
